When to rename an article (page)

If you create a page with a mistake in the name, instead of creating a new one with the correct name and requesting the old one to be deleted, we ask that you instead MOVE the page. All registered uses have the ability to MOVE a page (the command is located in a tab at the top of the wiki page between History and Watch.

Moving a page simply lets you rename it and retain all page history for the page and it's talk page. That is why this method is preferred over creating a new page and deleting the old.

After the page is moved

The old page will now redirect to the moved location. After you move a page, return to the old one and see if any pages link to it (click on 'What links here' in the toolbox on the left). If nothing links there, please edit the old page and request for an admin to {{delete}} the page. If there are one or two links, please edit those pages to reflect the new name. If there are more, go ahead and leave the redirect as it is.
